Patient rights and obligations

➔ The patient's rights

  • The right to quality care is a fundamental right for all patients, regardless of their social position, within the limits of the guarantees provided by the legislation in force
  • The health structures and establishments of the Souss Massa university hospital center ensure respect for the privacy and dignity of the patient, the data and secrets relating to his medical file, his social situation and the confidentiality of his mail and its communications and to ensure conditions of tranquility, without nuisance or disclosure of its presence, in accordance with the legislative provisions in force.
  • The patient has the right to be informed about his state of health, the care, the various investigations, the treatments proposed, their consequences as well as the risks incurred that they may generate.
  • The information is communicated:
    • during the consultation or during a special session intended for this purpose,
    • during the stay in the health establishment,
    • when leaving the health establishment, in order to encourage him to continue the treatment, to apply preventive measures and to avoid complications likely to aggravate his state of health.
  • Consent to receive care is a right of the patient or their legal guardian, when they are incapable or have limited capacity.
  • A patient of full age who is aware and can express himself clearly has the right to refuse to benefit from any preventive or curative service offered to him in our hospitals.
  • He will then sign a certificate establishing that he is aware of the risks incurred, thus releasing our health structures from any liability
  • The adult patient has the right, at his own risk, to leave the health establishment and not to undergo or continue the prescribed treatment, taking into account the exceptions provided for by the regulations in force.
  • Medical confidentiality is the property of the patient, it should only be disclosed to a third party with the patient’s authorization or in the cases provided for by law.
  • Unless previously prohibited by the patient, it is possible to inform the family, relatives or a trusted person designated by the patient himself, of a possible decline in his state of health.

➔ The patient's obligations

  • Compliance with the hygiene rules recommended by the health establishment and strict personal cleanliness,
  • Strict compliance with the requirements of the internal regulations of the health establishment, including abstention from smoking within its premises,
  • Respect for the measures taken by the administration within health establishments and compliance with the established order,
  • The preservation of the premises, equipment and other property of the health establishment,…
The patient and, where applicable, the companions are required to comply with the following obligations:
  • Respect for the independence of the doctor in assessing and deciding on the treatment appropriate to his state of health,
  • Respect for healthcare professionals and the enjoyment of good morals,
  • Compliance with the conditions of admission, stay and exit from health structures and establishments,
  • Presentation of required administrative and personal documents (national identity card, current health care card and any other document required by the patient care procedures at the health facility).
  • The payment of treatment costs or the prior presentation of a certificate of coverage issued by the health insurance or social security institution in which he is affiliated.
